Direct
Debit
A Direct Debit is an instruction
from a customer to their bank or building society authorising an
organisation to collect varying amounts from their account, as long
as the customer has been given advance notice of the collection
amounts and dates.
You can either complete
a Direct Debit Instruction, obtained from the organisation you wish
to pay, and return it to them or, with some organisations, you can
set up Direct Debits over the telephone or via the Internet.
The organisation will then
forward your instructions onto your bank authorising them to allow
payments to be collected from your account to them.
