- Poker Hands from Best to Worst
The Poker Hand Rankings shown below
show the Poker hands possible from the Best ( A Royal Flush
) to the Worst ( One Pair ). In conventional Poker, the suit
of the cards does not have an influence, although some variations
have a hierachy of the suits, so that an equally ranked hand
would be seperated by the stronger denominated suit.
An Ace counts as a High Card in Poker.
Royal Flush
The Royal Flush is the best poker hand
you can have.
Example: Ten of hearts, Jack of hearts,
Queen of hearts, King of hearts and the Ace of hearts, all
the same suit, in this case Hearts.
Straight Flush
Five cards, all of the same suit that
are in sequence.
Example : 8 of hearts, 9 of hearts,
10 of hearts, Jack of hearts and the Queen of Hearts.
Four-Of-A-Kind
Four cards of equal rank, obviously with
one from each of the suits.
Example : All the Aces.Ace of Spades,
Aces of Diamonds, Ace of Clubs and the Ace of Hearts
So 4 Aces would beat 4 10's.
Full House
Three cards of equal rank (Three of
a kind ) combined with 2 cards of equal rank ( A Pair )
Example: Here we have Three 2's "Three
of a kind" combined with "A Pair" of 10's
Flush
Any five cards of the same suit, but
in no particular order. If 2 players have a flush, the flush
with the highest card will win the pot.
Example: Here we have a Ace High Flush.
Straight
Five cards of mixed suits, in sequence.
Example: Here we have a 9 high straight.
If 2 players have a straight, the player with the highest
"high card" will win the pot. If the players have
the same high card, then the pot will be split.
Three-of-a-kind
Any three cards of equal rank.
Example: Here we have 3 Kings, so its
called Three of a Kind, Kings.
King of Diamonds, King of Hearts and
the King of Clubs.
Two Pair
Two cards of equal rank combined with
another different two cards of equal rank.
Example: Here we have 2 Pair, 5 and
6's.
One Pair
Two cards of equal rank.
Example : Here we have a Pair of Jacks.All
the other cards are random.
High Card
If neither player has even a Pair, then
the Player with the highest Card will take down the Pot, in
this case a Queen of Clubs.
